He was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and raised in Nicaragua by both Mexican and Nicaraguan parents. In 2000, GusColors moved to Miami to pursue his passion of an artistic career. Miami turned out to be the perfect destination point for him, as he currently lives and paints here.

In 2007, GusColors was commissioned for seven murals done at the Overtown Youth Center in Miami, FL. He brought “a splash of GusColors” to inspire, empower and enrich the lives of inner-city youth. After concentrating on developing his own technique and experimenting with different mediums for a couple of years, Gus was invited to the grand opening of the Wallace Gallery in Fort Myers, FL in February 2009. He had the opportunity to exhibit his work, as well as perform a live body painting. In August 2009 he participated in the Earth Is Art Showcase, which was produced by Life Is Art and Metro 1 Properties of Miami, FL. He exhibited five pieces, and worked alongside other local Miami artists. Other events include the Fifth Annual Mad Hatter Arts Festival held in Coconut Grove, FL and a non-profit event with Kids Off Streets, another Miami, FL organization focusing on active and healthy lifestyles for kids.

GusColors was featured in Nicaragua’s December 2009 edition of Cosas, a popular lifestyle magazine; it is one of the most sophisticated magazines throughout the Latin American culture. It is celebrity driven, and covers topics such as glamour, including fashion, music and art, as well as national and international current events. “It was great to be featured in the premiere edition of Cosas. I want the people of my country to know that they too can follow their dreams. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you can’t do it, and never give up.” With over 1000 copies in circulation, GusColors hopes to become a household name in the Latin American countries. In 2011 and 2013 he also had an opportunity to exhibit at Midtown's Art Fusion Gallery on three exhibits as well as on Brickell's Hotel Urbano. With a successful exhibit with sales in Canada, and Switzerland amongst other countries new opportunities opened up. In 2012 he was part of a 3 month exhibit at GAB Studios in Wynwood. 2013 was a very exciting year as he had an opportunity to exhibit in Ferrara, Italy and Castello Estense - "Here Now Exhibit" as well as body paint for the show.

2015 looks promising for GusColors. “I’m thankful for the opportunities given to me that have allowed me to create a buzz in South Florida. I want to continue to focus on perfecting my technique that will take it to the next level. I’m definitely excited to do what it takes to develop into a more successful artist.” This year GusColors wants to reach out to larger audiences and tackle bigger projects. “People come to Miami to frolic in the sun, enjoy the nightlife, and experience all the top-notch attractions. I want to continue to capture that energy so that people can experience it at another, more personal level.” With that being said, Gus will remain in Miami to live and paint, and will explore more national and international options.
